The University of Salford
The University of Salford is a dynamic, cosmopolitan university situated in Greater Manchester, one and a half miles from the city centre on a green riverside campus. Founded in 1896, the University was originally the Royal Salford Technical Institute dedicated to providing education and training for the growing industrial economy in the North West. The University has a long track record in providing educational opportunities across all sections of society and is renowned for its close links with business, industry, the public sector and the local community. These partnerships enable the University to develop relevant new courses, undertake cutting edge research, give businesses access to the University's knowledge and skills and to offer students real life experience through work placements and projects.
One of the largest Universities in the UK, there are some 18,000 students studying at Salford including 2,500 postgraduates. With a world-class reputation, the University has 2,000 international students from 80 countries studying at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The University is divided into four faculties: the Faculty of Arts, Media & Social Sciences, the Faculty of Business & Informatics, the Faculty of Health & Social Care and the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Environment. There are a total of 16 Schools and six Research Institutes within the University.
