Bolton Metropolitan Council

Our aim is to make sure that Bolton is a great place to grow up, live, learn, work, do business and visit; so that the potential of each community and the Borough as a whole can be realised.

The Borough is divided into 20 wards each of which elects three councillors. The towns of Blackrod, Horwich and Westhoughton also elect members for their own Town Councils.

The work of the Council is carried out through seven departments which are overseen by the Executive and Executive members. The Executive is made up of 10 elected members with different areas of responsibility. The Council also works in partnership with a variety of private, public and voluntary sector organisations through the Bolton Strategic Partnership.
